Shoppers looking for a pickup truck in Japan are in for a pleasant surprise, as Toyota has updated the toughest truck in the market. The revised Hilux now comes with more equipment as standard and a new color option.

This week, Toyota announced that the Panoramic View camera system is now standard on the Z grade of the truck. Offering drivers a wider view of the world around them through the in-car infotainment display, the system is helpful for drivers navigating the tight confines of an industrial park, or off-roading on a trail.

In addition, the rearview camera and an updated infotainment system, with navigation, are now also standard on the base, Z grade of the Toyota Hilux.

In addition, Toyota has made a slight change to the color options for the pickup truck. Whereas both the Z and GR Sport grade Hilux were previously offered with Super White II, that has now been changed to Platinum Pearl Mica.

In Japan, the Hilux is equipped with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 147 hp (110 kW/150 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

The GR Sport trim gets body-color wheel arches, unique front fascia, 18-inch wheels, black rock sliders, and more to help it look more aggressive than the standard model. However, it does not get any more power, despite the name.

The updated Toyota Hilux Z trim is now priced at 4,072,000 yen ($27,275 USD at current exchange rates), while the GR Sport trim starts at 4,312,000 yen ($28,883 USD).
