Toyota enthusiasts in Germany are in for a special treat with the introduction of a new, limited-edition GR Yaris, of which only 300 will be produced. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s recent victories in the World Rally Championship (WRC), this exclusive model harbors undisclosed (for now) performance upgrades.

Priced from €42,490 (about US$46,700 at current exchange rates), the hot hatch benefits from a special tuning setup, courtesy of Toyota Gazoo Racing. While the automaker remains tight-lipped about the specific enhancements applied by the WRC team, they promise to unveil the details before the car’s official release.

What it can say is that the GR Yaris can be had in either red or white color options, echoing the racing livery of the version that competed in the rallying championship this year. The brake calipers are also painted red and clamp down on slotted brake discs that are surrounded by 18-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels.

Finally, the limited run model is equipped with Toyota’s “High Performance” package, featuring a Torsen limited-slip differential and “a customer-specific vehicle setup”. If you’re curious about the meaning of the latter, Toyota (kind of) explains, “An individual vehicle setup that uses the expertise of the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team guarantees even more agility and driving fun. The details of the setup cannot be communicated at the moment, but will follow in good time before the vehicle is delivered.”

The special edition GR Yaris has been designed to celebrate Toyota Gazoo Racing’s 1-2-3 finish at the recent Rally Japan. The race, which was won by driver Elfyn Evans and navigator Scott Martin, capped off a near perfect season for the automaker, which took home the manufacturer’s championship, and whose drivers finished 2023 in first and second place.

As with other GR Yaris variants, the special edition car is powered by Toyota’s impressive three-cylinder, turbocharged, 1.6-liter engine. The car makes 257 hp (192 kW/261 PS), and can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.5 seconds thanks to its adjustable all-wheel-drive system.

Due to the anticipated high demand for this limited-edition, Toyota has implemented a selective purchasing process. Interested buyers will need to submit an application to secure the opportunity to purchase the GR Yaris. Applications will be accepted from November 27th to December 4th. If selected, applicants will receive an email notification, and will have 14 days to complete their order. Deliveries are slated for the upcoming summer season.
