Lexus has announced that the 2024 GX will be priced from $64,250 when it arrives at dealerships early next year. That’s a significant increase compared to the outgoing model, which started at $60,225. However, the price hike helps to create room for the Toyota Land Cruiser, which will begin in the “mid-$50,000 range.”
Kicking things off is the entry-level GX 550 Premium, which features LED lighting units, fixed running boards, and a power liftgate. The SUV also comes equipped with a moonroof, a tow hitch, and 20-inch wheels.

Moving inside, the seven seater comes nicely equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch infotainment system. They’re joined by a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an ambient lighting system, and a ten-speaker audio system. The model also has heated and ventilated front seats wrapped in NuLuxe upholstery.
Besides upscale equipment, the GX comes with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite of driver assistance systems. It includes All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. Other highlights include Road Sign Assist, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and an Emergency Driving Stop System that can bring the vehicle to a gradual halt if the driver becomes unresponsive. Rounding out the highlights are Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking and a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
The $69,250 GX 550 Premium+ goes a step further as it has LED fog lights and a kick sensor for the power liftgate. More importantly, it comes with a heated leather steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and a power folding third-row. Other highlights include a wireless smartphone charger, a Panoramic View Monitor, and an upgraded Intuitive Parking Assist system with Pedestrian Detection.
If that isn’t fancy enough, the GX 550 Luxury can be had for $77,250. It has larger 22-inch wheels and mirrors with integrated puddle lamps. Inside, there are semi-aniline leather seats with heating, ventilation, and massage up front. The model also has illuminated door sill plates and second-row sunshades.
The $81,250 GX 550 Luxury+ is the fanciest of the bunch and it has power running boards as well as a panoramic glass roof. Buyers will also find an adaptive variable suspension, a digital rearview mirror, a cool box, and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system.
GX Overtrail Starts At $69,250
Aside from the mainstream variants, there’s the off-road focused Overtrail which begins at $69,250. It largely echoes lower trims and features a five-seat interior with a heated leather steering wheel as well as NuLuxe upholstery. Buyers will also find black roof rails, a windshield wiper de-icer, headlight washers, and a ten-speaker audio system.
Given its off-road focus, the Overtrail comes equipped with 18-inch wheels that are wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires. The model also has an electronically controlled locking rear differential, an adaptive variable suspension, and an Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System that “locks and unlocks the front and rear stabilizer bars to assist with control and … wheel articulation.”
Other highlights include Multi-Terrain Select and Downhill Assist Control. They’re joined by Crawl Control with Turn Assist and a Panoramic View Monitor with a Multi-Terrain Monitor.
The $77,250 Overtrail+ is largely identical, but it places a greater emphasis on luxury. As a result, it comes with heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats as well as heated second-row seats. Buyers will also find a power steering wheel, a wireless smartphone charger, illuminated door sill plates, and second-row sunshades.
Under the hood, there’s a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 with 349 hp (260 kW / 354 PS) and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel drive system with a limited-slip locking center differential. This setup enables the GX to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 6.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 175 mph (282 km/h).
The SUV is slated to return 15 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined. That’s a slight improvement over its predecessor, which was rated at 15 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 16 mpg combined.
Buyers looking for something more efficient can hold off for the hybrid variant. It will arrive “at a later date” and likely echo the Land Cruiser, which has a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, a 1.87 kWh battery pack, and an eight-speed automatic transmission with an integrated electric motor. This gives the model a combined output of 326 hp (243 kW / 331 PS) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.
