Another day, another powerful sports car captured on film plowing into a crowd of spectators at a car event somewhere in the U.S. This time, it wasn’t a Ford Mustang, but rather another homegrown performance car: a blacked-out C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible.
While the video is only brief, the driver of the ‘Vette appears to be trying their hardest to do a burnout in front of the crowd, but they don’t seem to know what they’re doing. For starters, you may notice the front wheels are turned to the right when the driver starts to spin up the rear wheels.

After the car begins to lose traction on the sandy piece of tarmac, the rear-end quickly snaps out, and the driver is unable to correct it. The sports car then collides with several spectators at the event, knocking at least two of them to the ground. To make matters worse for the Corvette driver, they also collide with a white Dodge Durango parked on the side of the street.
The trademark whistle of a supercharger makes us think this Corvette has been boosted and if that’s the case, it’s probably making some serious power. However, it’s not the power that’s to blame for the crash but rather the driver’s lack of skill (not to mention the foolish decision to attempt such a maneuver so close to people). Alternatively, the car may have experienced a strange mechanical or electronic issue that caused the crash, but we don’t find that likely.
There’s a reason why cars have traction control systems and unless you’re a seasoned driver, you shouldn’t turn them off. Sure, most drivers could get away with it in a low-powered front-wheel drive hatchback, but if you have a powerful rear-wheel drive sports car, it’s a good idea to leave them on.
