After bursting onto the world stage last year with its wild M4-based Zagato coupe last year, Bovensiepen has unveiled its second offering. Dubbed the 05 GT, it’s based on the BMW 5-Series Touring, has undergone a comprehensive transformation, and rocks an almost unbelievable amount of power.
Now, if you’re wondering why the 05 GT looks so much like an Alpina product, there’s a very good reason. Bovensiepen was created by the family that also founded Alpina, which was fully acquired by BMW in 2022 and is now releasing new products. For the 05 GT, the company recruited the expertise of car design legend Frank Stephenson, giving it an understated look while still ensuring it stands out from a regular 5-Series. In essence, this is a successor to the old Alpina B5.

At the front, you will notice an all-new bumper with a sportier shape and a new mesh grille featuring a large Bovensiepen emblem. A set of 21-inch, 20-spoke forged wheels has also been installed and is wrapped in Pirelli tires created specifically for this car.
The alterations continue along the sides with new skirts, while at the rear are a custom spoiler stretching from the roof, a refined new bumper, and quad tailpipes. For the most part, it looks like a typical Alpina product, except for the different badging. While we’re not sure how Alpina will feel about this, a little extra competition in the tuned BMW space can only be a good thing.
Plug-In Power To Stun
No doubt the most impressive thing about the 05 GT is the powertrain. While it looks understated and very similar to a basic 5-Series Touring, it actually uses the same plug-in hybrid, 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 as the M5. Ordinarily, this setup packs 718 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque, but thanks to a new air intake, a titanium Akrapovic exhaust, and some software tweaks, Bovensiepen has extracted 790 hp and 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm).
The luxurious estate can accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h). It tips the scales at 5,632 lbs (2,555 kg), making it 11 lbs (5 kg) heavier than an M5 Touring. Other performance-focused changes include tweaked suspension with new Eibach springs, modified support bearings, and a strut tower brace.
There’s plenty to like about the car’s cabin, too. The German firm has re-trimmed the seats in new Lavalina leather, sourced from selected farms in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. The steering wheel is also newly appointed in plush new leather, and, as you’d expect from a vehicle like this, buyers can choose from a slew of different leather colors to create their dream ride.
Bovensiepen plans to start deliveries of the 05 GT in the fourth quarter of the year, with prices starting from €198,900 ($230,700).
