- De Tomaso has finally delivered its very first customer P72.
- Rose Gold wheels and mirrors anchor the Aurelian Night finish.
- A supercharged 5.0-liter Ford V8 is paired to a manual gearbox.
Almost seven years after the new De Tomaso P72 broke cover as one of the most stylish limited-run machines we’ve ever laid eyes on, production has started, and what you see here is the first customer-spec car. The commission is called Aurelian Night, and it wears the description like a piece of automotive jewelry.
The P72, designed by Jowyn Wong, looks gorgeous in any specification, but this one takes things to another level. Most of the bodywork wears a deep shade of blue that reads almost black in some lights, then glistens in direct sun to accentuate the car’s lines.

Like flashes of color you may find in a million-dollar tourbillon timepiece, the blue paint of this P72 is contrasted by Rose Gold accents. These are found across the front splitter and intakes, along a stripe running over the hood, roof, and rear decklid, and on the side skirts and rear diffuser. Arguably, the highlight of the entire car is the Rose Gold wheels and wing mirrors.
A Cabin To Match
The P72’s interior has been configured to beautifully match the exterior. The seats are trimmed in Venetian Blue leather, and knurled Rose Gold elements are found throughout. These include the stunning instruments, the shifter, the steering wheel, and parts of the dashboard, door panels, and the outer edges of the seats.
Of course, it’s not just the design that makes the P72 desirable. The car is built around a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis and is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter Ford V8 producing 700 hp and 605 lb-ft (820 Nm) of torque. While this engine isn’t as exotic as some of the P72’s million-dollar hypercar rivals, it is mated to a six-speed manual that drives the rear wheels, so the car should be an absolute blast to drive.
