• Porsche has discontinued both Taycan wagon variants for 2027.
  • Updated Taycan gains NACS charging and Tesla Supercharger access.
  • New software adds AI voice controls and simulated gear shifts.

Porsche might have just introduced some great, or at least interesting, new features on the 2027 Taycan. Owners will get access to the Tesla Supercharger network, along with eight fake gears layered over the two real ones beneath the skin. What they won’t get anymore is either wagon body style, namely the GTS Sport Turismo and the Cross Turismo.

The news came tucked inside Porsche’s announcement for the refreshed Taycan before being confirmed by company representatives to Kelly Blue Book. According to Porsche, low sales ultimately sealed the fate of both wagon models. The decision follows the death of the Panamera Sport Turismo in 2023 and leaves Porsche without a wagon in the U.S. market.

It’s not hard to see why the company made the call. Taycan sales have been trending downward despite the model’s strong launch. Porsche sold 7,570 Taycans in the U.S. during 2023, but that number fell to 4,747 in 2024 and then to 4,142 in 2025. Sales have continued to weaken this year, too, making it difficult to justify three separate body styles for a niche EV.

The surviving sedan isn’t standing still, though. Every 2027 Taycan now comes standard with the 105-kWh Performance Battery Plus pack. It can charge at up to 320 kW and finally gains a native NACS port for DC fast charging, opening the door to Tesla’s Supercharger network without requiring an adapter. Porsche will also include a CCS adapter for use at other public charging stations.

Then there’s E-Shift, Porsche’s answer to Hyundai’s N Shift system. Yes, Porsche adopting a Hyundai feature is a real thing in 2026, even after it said it wouldn’t. It simulates gear changes, engine braking, and even a virtual rev limiter while pairing the experience with synthetic performance sounds. Whether that’s a welcome addition or an unnecessary gimmick will likely depend on how much you enjoy engagement. Pricing for the 2027 Taycan sedan starts at $111,900 before a $2,350 delivery fee.
