Audi, Acura, and Lexus have all played a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The four-ringed brand was particularly prominent as they starred in the first Iron Man movie and numerous other films that followed.
However, times changed and automotive tie-ins fell by the wayside. The MCU also struggled as they launched a series of underwhelming movies that few people cared about.

Things have been looking up as of late and there seems to be genuine excitement for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It comes out on Friday and sees Tom Holland reprise his role as the web-slinging hero. He’s joined by wife Zendaya as well as Jacob Batalon, who plays Ned. The film is also notable for featuring Mark Ruffalo as Hulk and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher.
Those stars will be joined by the BMW 5-Series and iX3. The automaker said they’ve been “woven into the plot of the new film, enabling them to connect with a global fan base.”
That’s a little vague, but the company said the “partnership underlines the BMW commitment to combining innovation, technology and cultural relevance.” The automaker went on to note Spider-Man is one of the world’s most popular superheroes and the movie trailer got one billion views in four days.
BMW’s Bernd Körber added, “The launch of the Neue Klasse and Spider-Man: Brand New Day could not be more fitting. Both stand for a bold new beginning and the confidence to shape what comes next.”
Besides the film partnership, a Spider-Man animation is rolling out to compatible BMW vehicles. The company has also updated their iX3 Flow concept to transfer the “visual world of Spider-Man to the vehicle’s exterior” via E Ink displays.
