- Alfa Romeo has named its upcoming concept Cuorerosso.
- The name roughly translates to “Red Heart.”
- The mysterious concept debuts in Paris on October 12.
Alfa Romeo has slowly been trickling out information about its upcoming concept, and with just a couple weeks until its big debut, the Italian automaker has released a teaser image of the car and confirmed its name. Dubbed the Cuorerosso, or “Red Heart,” it’s supposed to represent the brand’s future and, more importantly, remind us that Alfa still cares about making cars that people actually want to drive.
The name obviously pays homage to two things, red and hearts, that Alfa Romeo cares about. It says that red represents passion and the Alfa Romeo imagination, while the heart symbolizes the emotional relationship between its cars and their drivers. Put them together, and you get Cuorerosso, which Alfa describes as a “declaration of intent” for a car designed first and foremost to excite.

That’s considerably more philosophy than engineering, but it fits what Alfa has been telling us about the concept. Earlier this month, the automaker described the then-unnamed model as a “manifesto” for its future, drawing inspiration from Italy, sportiness, and the color red. It also said the concept was created for people who still love driving and would demonstrate the “full creative strength” of the brand. That sounds good, but those aren’t the details we care about most.
Currently, there’s no word on its powertrain, platform, dimensions, performance, or even confirmation of exactly what kind of car Cuorerosso is. That said, the teasers don’t appear to be laying the groundwork for another crossover. Previous footage showed flashes of low, sculpted red bodywork, while Alfa peppered another teaser with potential names, including Battito (“Beat” or “Heartbeat”), Biscione (“Big Snake”), and Passione (“Passion”). Cuorerosso was also on that social media post.
Those words all mesh well with the idea that this is more than a concept but rather a direction for the whole brand. For now, though, the company appears perfectly happy talking about hearts, passion, instinct, and emotion while keeping the actual car hidden. Thankfully, we don’t have much longer to wait. We’ll find out if the Cuorerosso is genuinely something special or just a pretty name when it makes its debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 12 at 10:55 a.m. CEST. After that, the car will remain on display through October 18.
