The Dodge Nitro was never known for blending quietly into the crowd, but a unique build which is currently listed on Facebook Marketplace takes it to uncharted territory. The boxy SUV has been converted into a dual-cab pickup, while trading its crossover stance with a sporty bodykit and a set of 22-inch alloy wheels.
The project started with a 2009 Dodge Nitro R/T donor vehicle that looked completely stock before the wild transformation began. The first thing you notice besides the striking red shade of the exterior is the redesigned face, with a lower bumper that came out of a Chevrolet Camaro muscle car.

Besides the pronounced chin and the black splitter that nearly touches the ground, the Nitro has also received a custom body-colored grille and round LED headlights. The robot-like facial features are reminiscent of the Iron Giant from the animated sci-fi film, and will certainly raise some eyebrows.

The 22-inch wheels with five double spokes and a black finish completely fill the wheel arches of the compact SUV. They are joined by the signature body-colored fenders, new gills and deeper side skirts. All those mods distract us from noticing that the rear portion of the roof has been cut off, turning the Nitro into a pickup.

The cargo area is accessible via an electric bed cover, while the rear window and bulkhead are most likely sourced from a midsize truck. From the photos, it is not clear whether the remaining portion of the tailgate is operational or if it remains fixed, but the rear bumper has been modified with sporty add-ons.
The five-seater cabin retains the red and black cloth upholstery of the R/T and the factory sunroof. Upgrades include the aftermarket touchscreen on the center console, and blue footwell lighting.

There is no word on any mechanical modifications, but the flagship Nitro R/T came fitted with a 4.0-liter V6 producing 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS) and 265 lb-ft (359 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a five-speed automatic gearbox. This particular R/T has 160,000 miles (257,495 km) on the odometer which is normal for an 17-year-old vehicle and appears to ride on a lowered suspension.

According to the listing on Facebook Marketplace “everything works perfectly”. The special build is located in Hamilton, Ohio, and the seller wants $9,500 in cash in order to part ways with it.
The Dodge Nitro remained on sale between 2007 and 2012 when it got discontinued without a direct successor. The Dodge Hornet appeared in 2023 occupying the compact SUV spot in the lineup, but it proved to be short-lived and was phased out after the 2025 model year.
