- The new Audi RS5 had a very successful market launch.
- Orders in Europe are “nearly twice as high as expected.”
- Production allocation for 2026 has already been sold out.
When Audi introduced the new generation of the RS5 in February 2026, serving as a rival to the BMW M3 while replacing both the discontinued RS5 Coupe and the RS4 Avant. It now seems that this strategy was right, with the model being a sales hit in Europe as its availability expands to global markets.
The automaker has yet to release exact sales figures, but revealed that European orders for the RS5 are “nearly twice as high as expected”. According to Audi, this was the most successful market launch in the history of the RS5 nameplate. Furthermore, the annual production allocation for 2026 has been sold out, meaning that buyers who order today won’t get delivery before next year.

The new RS5 is offered in five-door Sedan and Avant bodystyle flavors, leaving the previous two-door coupe out of the equation. Still, the exclusive bodykit with aggressive bumpers, wide fenders and oversized dual oval tailpipes is enough to differentiate it from lesser sedans and wagons in the Audi lineup.

The model rides on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture, also used by the latest A5, A6, Q5, and Q7 lines. It is powered by a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine and a single electric motor, producing a combined 630 hp (470 kW / 639 PS) and 825 Nm (609 lb-ft) of torque.

Coming Soon To A Market Near You
Following the positive response in the Old Continent, Audi is now ready to export the RS5 to more regions around the world. The performance-focused model is now launching in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Japan, soon to be followed by Korea, Taiwan, and other overseas markets. Unfortunately, it has been reported that Audi won’t bring the RS5 Avant to the U.S., but we could still get the RS5 Sedan in the future.
If you’re wondering about pricing, the RS5 is the most expensive member of the A5 family. In its home market in Germany, the sedan starts at €106,200 ($118,600) and the Avant from €107,850 ($120,500). Production takes place at the Neckarsulm plant in Germany.
