Ford's Coolest Street Truck Gains Gold Rims And Racing Stripes, But You Still Can't Have It
We're definitely booking our tickets to the United Kingdom right now
The stars of the Ford Ranger lineup are the dune-conquering Raptor and the ultra-capable Super Duty, but Europeans have access to something entirely different. The Ranger MS-RT is a street truck with a lowered stance and a custom body kit, now available in Champion Edition spec with a motorsport-inspired treatment. The Ranger MS-RT was created by Ford Pro in collaboration with its long-time rally partner M-Sport, featuring styling and chassis upgrades.
The Champion Edition is distinguished by matte black and gold racing stripes over an Agate Black body, and the gold finish on the 21-inch alloy wheels. Other than that, it retains the aggressive body kit of the standard MS-RT, including a deep bumper with sporty intakes, wide fenders, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and dual spoilers. Ford says this spoiler setup is reminiscent of the "whale tail" wings from the Sierra RS500 and Escort Cosworth, or at least the closest they could facilitate on a midsize truck.
Sporty interior and generous equipment
Moving inside, the Champion Edition variant trades the blue accents of the standard Ranger widebody MS-RT for more gold trim. Gold stitching has been applied on the heavily bolstered heated bucket seats which are wrapped in eco-leather and suede with angular geometric-patterned inserts. The same treatment can be found on the thickly padded and heated steering wheel, as well as the central armrest, the door cards, and the floor mats.
The dual-cab pickup is available in a five-seater configuration in combination with a standard-sized rear cargo bed. As with most special edition vehicles, this Ranger comes standard with all of the available goodies. Equipment includes the 12-inch infotainment system, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a comprehensive ADAS suite, and 360-degree Zone Lighting. Finally, there is a plaque on the center console signifying its place in the Ranger lineup.
Lowered suspension, stock powertrains
As with the regular Ranger MS-RT, the Champion Edition rides on a lowered suspension with firmer dampers at the front, wider tracks, and retuned rear leaf springs. In combination with the lower-profile tires, the ground clearance has dropped by 1.6 inches. Despite the street truck looks and the road-focused chassis setup, the MS-RT doesn't receive any performance upgrades. It is available with the familiar turbodiesel V6 and Ranger plug-in hybrid powertrain options.
The turbodiesel 3.0-liter V6 is good for 240 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, while the PHEV produces a combined 281 hp and 514 lb-ft. In both cases, power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic and a 4WD system. The street truck preserves the 2,204 pounds of payload and 7,716 pounds of towing capacity of its stablemates.
Ford hasn't announced pricing for the Ranger MS-RT Champion Edition, but the model is already available to order in Europe and the UK, with the first deliveries scheduled for spring 2027. Unfortunately, US enthusiasts will have to continue admiring this lowered street truck from afar. Still, North American buyers can always get the Lobo version of the smaller Maverick or the 700-hp F-150 Lobo, which are not available in Europe.
