This Restomod Audi Quattro Has A Screaming 10,000 RPM V8
Because racecar
Six months ago, British firm Audacious Automotive revealed it was working on an insane Audi Ur Quattro that was shaping up to outdo most other restomods. It's now revealed its insane creation in full, and it's even crazier than initially expected. Total production will be capped at no more than 50 units, and while prices start from £350,000, this appears to be a restomod that may actually justify the high price tag.
The car, known simply as the Audacious IV, is available in two forms. The standard car uses an original Audi Quattro's upper structure, roof, and windows, and then builds upon it with bespoke steel and aluminum bodywork. If that's not fancy enough for any billionaire collectors out there, Audacious Automotive sells the IV in all-carbon-fiber form, meaning it doesn't require an original Quattro source vehicle.
Interestingly, the Audacious IV differs from some similar projects in that it isn't built from an original. Instead, it shares its underpinnings with the B7-generation Audi RS4, retaining the original floor and lower body structure, plus the braking, steering, electrical systems, and suspension geometry. There's a lot to like about the IV, and the engine is the obvious highlight.
Four powerful V8s are available
The RS4's 4.2-liter V8 is available in several configurations. The base version adds a supercharger, lifting power up to 600 horsepower. Shoppers looking for more power will be able to order the IV with an upgraded supercharged V8, delivering 750 hp, comfortably more than even an original Audi R8. Two other V8 versions are available, both revving to 10,000 rpm. One is naturally aspirated, while the other is supercharged. There's no word on how much power they'll have, but they should both sound extraordinary.
All versions of the Audacious IV come standard with a six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive. The sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) will be dealt with in as little as 3.4 seconds, and the car will also soldier through to a 200 mph (320 kph) top speed.
Though the IV shares many chassis and powertrain components with an almost 20-year-old Audi RS4, it looks absolutely nothing like the donor car. The front looks much like an original Ur Quattro, albeit refreshed and modernized. It rocks new LED headlights, a blacked-out grille, intakes, and a dramatic new splitter. The classic three gills on the hood have increased in size, and the flared quarter panels give the car that iconic Group B rally stance. Other visual highlights include the three-spoke star-shaped wheels and the massive rear wing.
The cabin is very different than an original Ur Quattro and a B7 RS4. It comes equipped with a unique three-spoke steering wheel clad in leather and aluminum, a custom instrument binnacle with traditional gauges, and a perfect sphere gear knob. This initial car has also been showcased with a combination of tan and black leather on the dashboard, door panels, and seats, as well as tartan trim. As you may expect for a vehicle like this, and one which is this expensive, a near-limitless number of options and interior configurations will be available.
