New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has its hands full after Hurricane and then super storm Sandy left absolute devastation in many parts of the Big Apple.

Over the past 24 hours, the state agency, which operates New York City’s subway and buses, as well as commuter trains, bridges and tunnels, has released video footage of the damage caused to the public transportation system by the freak storm.

Many of New York City’s subway stations and tunnels continue to be flooded, with Governor Andrew M. Cuomo stating that while MTA will resume limited subway service  on Thursday, it’s going to take some time to kick back into full gear.

“It is still too early to say how long it will take to restore the system to full service,” said Cuomo. “This is will be an exhaustive, time-consuming process with one goal: to restore safe and efficient service to 8.5 million daily MTA customers.”
