Chris Harris Drives the All-New 2014 Porsche 911 GT3

In many ways, the VW Golf GTI, the BMW M3 and the Porsche 911 GT3 have always been children of the same German family. Sure, there are fundamental differences from pricing to driving layouts, but you will also find key similarities in their core DNA and it’s not hard to see how the owner of one car could effortlessly jump into the other one – preferably, in the same order we mentioned them earlier.

The king of German, and for many drivers around the world, of all sports cars, is the 911 GT3, which represents the epitome of Porscheness.

As you would expect even if you haven't read the skinny on the GT3 (you can do so here, if you're curious), the car comes with all sorts of updates and upgrades over its predecessor ranging from a brand-new 469HP (475PS) 3.8-liter flat-six to a lighter body. However, the biggest change by far is the replacement of the traditional manual gearbox with a PDK dual-clutch transmission.

If not the first, one of the first journalists we've heard of getting behind the wheel of the new generation 911 GT3 is none other than Chris Harris, who wrote on his YouTube account the following:

"If we were a car magazine we'd call this a WORLD EXCLUSIVE, but we're not, so we won't. Let's just say we got very early access to the car everyone wants to know about. And it was very, very good. Volume to 11 please."

If you want to learn what he thinks about the new GT3 and especially Porsche's decision to not offer a manual gearbox on the car, watch the video below.

Shout out to Andreas for the submission!
