BMW has released a new special version of the X6 M called the “Design Edition”, which brings a series of styling upgrades both inside and outside.
Unveiled on BMW M’s Facebook page, the car comes equipped with 21-inch M Performance double-spoke light alloy wheels, M Performance carbon front splitter, rear spoiler and mirror caps, matte black kidney grille, a black rear diffuser and optional M Performance stripes in BMW M’s colors.
It’s a good thing the stripes are optional, as in my opinion they’re too much and the car could do without them.
On the inside, the BMW X6 M Design Edition features a full leather interior with Bicolor Black / Mugello Red and contrast stitching in Mugello Red. There’s also a leather-covered instrument panel in Bicolor Black / Mugello Red with an edition specific plaque.
BMW doesn’t say anything about performance, which likely means no changes have been made under the hood. As a quick reminder, the BMW X6 M is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine developing 550 horsepower (555PS) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. Mated to a 6-speed M Sport automatic transmission, the V8 mill catapults the four-wheel drive crossover from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
BMW says it will build 100 units of the X6 M Design Edition. Pricing and launch details have yet to be announced.
