A Porsche spokesperson has confirmed the news that the Stuttgart automaker has temporarily ceased deliveries and sales of its latest 911 GT3 model after two separate incidents in which the sport cars caught fire.

According to a report from Reuters citing the unnamed Porsche spokesman, company engineers from its Stuttgart headquarters “are examining the remains of the gutted vehicles from Switzerland and Italy to determine the cause of the fires”.

Porsche expects to complete the investigation by the end of this week. From the beginning of the year and up until now, the Germans reportedly delivered 322 units of the hardcore version of the 991 series, which retails for €137,303 in its home market, and for US$130,400 in the States.
