Unbelievably, the driver of the blue Dodge Caliber walked away with only minor injuries from a freaky accident that happened on I-81 in Smyth County, Virginia on Saturday morning.

Virginia State Police told WCYB news that the driver, Jacob Henley, smashed into a tractor-trailer before crossing the median and hitting the end of the guardrail that pierced his car, tearing off his headrest and crossing through the rear window.

Police said Henley was thrown to the passenger seat after crossing the median, something that probably saved his life – and yes, he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, but this is one very rare exception to the rule…

Since he did walk away…alive from the accident, VSP charged Henley with “reckless driving, driving on a revoked license, not wearing a seat belt, having expired tags, and not having proof of insurance”, according to the news report.
