We all know the 1966 Batmobile, the car widely recognized as the first-real life Batmobile ever made. However, there’s another car that claims that title, a 1956 Oldsmobile 88 that was restored this year.

Built between 1960 and 1963 by a young man called Forrest Robinson in his garage using fiberglass, the car was recognized by Detective Comics licensee in 1966 and officially designated a Batmobile.

Fast forward half a century later and the car was a wreck that had spent most of its life rotting in a field. However, it had the luck to be saved by current owners Sid and Alicia Belzberg, who had it restored by Mario Borbon of Borbon Fabrications.

The car will be auctioned on December 6 by Heritage Auctions and no one knows how much money it will rack up, with many expecting seven-figure sums.
