For the past 52 years, the Porsche 911 has never strayed past the traditional body style and rear-engined layout of the original.

While to some, this is a remarkable achievement on the part of Porsche, some think, I included, that the 911 could do with a complete overhaul and thankfully, automotive designer Khashayar Jenabi has rendered just that.

Jenabi is a recent graduate from the Institute of Applied Arts and Design in Torino, Italy and took it upon himself to seamlessly bring together the famed agility of the 911 with a sleek new design and mountains of additional power and speed. The resulting creation is dubbed the Porsche 911 Solo.

Design wise, Jenabi has completed ditched the traditional shape of the 911 in favour of a more modern, mid-engined design. The front of the 911 Solo bares obvious similarities to the recently revealed Porsche Mission-E Concept with the headlights incorporated into the massive front air intakes. Prominent wheel arches are also featured and in order to maximise aerodynamic efficiency, the wheels have also been enclosed in covers.

At the rear of the 911 Solo, we are somewhat reminded of the Koenigsegg Regera with its low decklid and thin taillights. The prominent Porsche logo however helps signify that this is indeed a totally bespoke creation.

There’s no word as to whether or not the designer has also dreamt up a powertrain for the 911 Solo. Either way, it’s an exceptionally interesting and exciting project.
