Buick Surprise NAIAS Debut Will Be A Camaro-Sized Sports Coupe Study

Following days of speculation about Buick’s second debut at the Detroit Motor Show, we can now reveal that it will be a sports coupe concept.

A person familiar with the carmaker’s plan broke the news to Bloomberg under the condition of anonymity, as the model is supposed to be a secret. According to the source, the concept, which may or may not be produced, will be “about the size of the Chevrolet Camaro” and will be a sporty creation that could give buyers “a fun option”.

It wasn’t clarified whether the new sports coupe is based on the rear-wheel drive architecture of the Camaro or on another GM platform.

Back in 2013, Buick had revealed a concept coupe designed in China that revived the historic Riviera nameplate, but it never materialized into a production car.

Buick’s other debut at the Detroit Motor Show on Monday will be the Chinese-built Envision crossover that will go on sale in North America later this year.
