If VW's BUDD-e concept wasn't retro and weird enough for you, then this modern take on the German manufacturer's Bulli concept from a few years ago might just hit the spot.
When V-Dub brought the BUDD-e to CES last week it was all about electric power, connectivity, gesture control, voice control and all these other bells and whistles.
But what about styling? Those of you who might consider purchasing a modern-day Microbus, could get a real kick out of this rendering.
What you're looking at is practically the Bulli Concept updated with new VW styling, such as front and rear LEDs, different and more practical bumpers and a strong profile, slightly reminiscent of the all-new Tiguan SUV.
The all-electric Bulli made its debut in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show and had a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 11 seconds flat, to go with its electronically limited top speed of 140 km/h (87 mph). While that's got nothing on the BUDD-e, with this type of car it's often less about performance and more about efficiency and practicality.
Then of course there's the design, and this is where most people will either love it or hate it. If you're into unusual degisn, like say the Nissan Juke, you could probably see yourself behind the wheel of a production-ready Bulli. Those who put practicality and space first on their list and can do without flashy design, might not bother as those don't seem to be its strong points.
