Tata has introduced a new compact crossover at Delhi’s 2016 Auto Expo ahead of its launch in the coming months.

The Nexon is a rival to the new Mahindra TUV300, Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and will be available only in India.

Stylistically, it remains quite similar to the concept unveiled two years ago.

At the front, it has simple black grille, curvaceous headlights with LED daytime running lights, a black lower grille and silver trim. The roof and pillars have are painted in a shade of grey, as have the lower sections of the wheel arches, the side skirts and part of the doors.

At the rear there are clear LED taillights, a prominent silver accent connecting the lights and a black faux rear grille/diffuser. Inside, it features a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an eight-speed audio system.

Buyers will be able to choose between a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-liter turbodiesel delivering 108 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. Drive is sent exclusively to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
