Last night Lincoln revealed a new concept that essentially previews the new generation of their full-size SUV.

Nothing wows more than a pair of huge gullwing doors, like the ones on the Navigator concept but it doesn’t seem very likely that the actual production model will get them.

Under the fancy doors and the whole yacht-inspired bling though, Lincoln’s new concept hides a new chassis, a 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost engine with more than 400hp and an array of Ford’s shiny new technologies to make the new Navigator a true Range Rover rival.

“The all-new Navigator Concept reinforces our commitment to give every Lincoln client what we call quiet luxury – vehicles and experiences that are elegant, effortlessly powerful and serene,” said company president Kumar Galhotra. “This kind of quiet luxury sets Lincoln apart. Now, we’re showing fans of large SUVs how we can exceed their expectations, without being the loudest statement on the road.”

The concept itself features a six-seat configuration in the cabin which is dressed in light-blue leather. All seats are adjustable in 30 ways in order to offer the best possible support to different body types, including independent deployable thigh support for the driver’s seat.

Lincoln has even installed a custom wardrobe management system which can hold all the gear you could want for “a day on the water” according to the company.

As for the safety tech, this includes the latest Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, a 360-degree camera combined with an enhanced parking assist system, lane-keeping and a cabin equipped with WiFi connectivity and a full set of restraint monitors and a large panel display in front of the driver.

Gullwing doors or not, if you liked the new Continental, you will love this one when it hits production.
