Watch Sébastien Ogier Masterfully Dodge Stray Cattle
Sometimes, it takes more than skills to get out of a hairy situation, but we don’t think Sébastien Ogier’s close call with a cow had something to do with luck. Either way, stakes could have been higher.
Due to its nature, and mainly because it’s held on open routes that allow an infinite number of scenarios to take place – like cows crossing the road, for example – Rally Racing is a very serious, dangerous and unpredictable motorsport discipline.
That’s why rally drivers are unanimously considered the most versatile and courageous athletes in the racing industry. Don’t get us wrong, other competitions are just as dangerous whilst others can’t be put side by side, but there’s something about rally cars doing 200 km/h (124mph) through forests, snowed mountain passes and arid deserts that makes our blood rush.
Taking part at the WRC Guanajuato México 2016 Rally, French racing-driver, Sébastien Ogier proved his nerves of steel while calmly dodging a family of cattle. The animals, unaware that a 318 hp and 430 Nm of torque, 1.2-ton ballistic racing machine was headed directly for them, decided to cross the road in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
Nevertheless, Ogier kept his calm and made one heck of a save, even if one cow was not…”amoosed”.
