With just 343 Heritage Editions leaving the assembly line in Gulf Oil livery, this Ford GT is one of the rarest of its kind.

Add that it was driven for less than 5 miles (8 km) and that it remains in its factory original delivery state with the steering wheel and seats wrapped in plastic covers, and you’ll quickly realize that this is a 10-year old brand new jewel.

Responsible for finding the GT a new home is Barrett-Jackson, at its Palm Beach auction on April 8-10, where it’s expected to fetch more than $500,000. Its future owner will also get the original documentation from Ford Motor Company, all books and manuals and Window Sticker.

Powered by a 550hp 5.4-liter DOHC V8 connected to a 6-speed Ricardo manual transmission, the Heritage Edition is equipped with HID headlights, BBS forged aluminum 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels, wrapped in factory Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, air conditioning and power windows.

The 2006 Ford GT Heritage won’t feel alone at the upcoming auction, as it will be joined by yet another limited-run GT Heritage Edition, but that one has approximately 3,000 miles (~4,800 km) on its odometer.
