Owners of an iPhone will feel right at home inside the 2016 Sonata, which has just received a new connectivity feature.

Apple Car Play allows drivers to make calls, access messages, listen to music or get directions optimized for traffic conditions and, with CarPlay, Siri provides an eyes-free experience by responding to requests using voice commands, accessible through the voice button on the steering wheel.

Sonatas with CarPlay are rolling off our assembly line in Montgomery, Alabama, and arriving at Hyundai dealerships nationwide. Not only is Sonata built in America, it is also built with a high technology experience in mind“, said Mike O’Brien, Hyundai Motor America’s VP of Corporate and Product Planning.

The new feature is compatible with iPhone 5 and newer models that are running the iOS 7.1 or newer operating systems. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are compatible with Sonata’s 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen and 8-inch navigation systems.

CarPlay support will also join existing 2015 Sonatas equipped with navigation and 2016 Sonatas with Display Audio or navigation. It will debut on the 2016 Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid at a later date. When the upgrade will become available, customers will be notified after they will provide their contact info on the manufacturer’s official US website.
