Some time ago, we were treated with a video – made in collaboration with Red Bull – which depicted a Ferrari F40 being pushed out of its comfort zone in a snowy environment. As entertaining as that was, it turns out that it was a nuisance to get every aspect of it just right.

The footage captured was monumental, and the short movie reminded us that nothing fun happens with a supercar if it’s being kept behind closed doors in a collection.

Even so, as inspiring as its message was, the fact of the matter is that the F40 remains a brittle, tender Italian supercar from the late 80s, which doesn’t always like it when you push it beyond its limits. Heck, sometimes it doesn’t even like to be pushed within its limits.

So, as everything isn’t like it seems – especially on the internet – the Ferrari had gearbox problems during the filming, its battery died, and even the front struts failed, making it a “snowplow” for a limited time. In fact, if you’re sensible about motoring rarities, we advise you to skip the video entirely, because the car gets a beating during the movie production, almost getting smashed a couple of times.
