VW’s new range-topping Touareg R Plus will cost buyers upwards of £48,095 and is expected to account for half the model’s UK sales.

As the ‘Plus’ would suggest, this trim level uses the already well-equipped R-Line version as a starting point, while building on value and style both inside and out.

On the outside, the 20″ alloy wheels have been upgraded to 21″ with a Mallory design, while the Area View technology is now standard and provides a 360-degree bird’s eye view of the SUV thanks to its front, rear and side wide-angle door mirror cameras.

Inside, standard equipment now features a ‘Piano Black’ finish on the center console, dash and air vent surrounds, as well as ‘Vienna’ leather upholstery. Furthermore, the front comfort seats are 14-way adjustable, while the front head restraint include four-way adjustment.

Value wise, the extra gear would cost £3,255 if specified separately, however the premium over the regular Touareg R-Line is just £1,160 – which is valid whether the customer goes for the 204 PS 3.0-liter V6 TDI model or the 262 PS one.

Other standard features worth pointing out would be the lowered sports suspension, R-Line body styling, panoramic sunroof, Bi-xenon headlights, black roof-linin, heated steering wheel, electric tailgate and keyless entry system.
