Even though Akrapovic first made a name for themselves by manufacturing exhaust systems for motorcycles, they’ve also helped cars get louder since branching out 2004.

One car that could definitely benefit from a louder exhaust note is the Ferrari 488 GTB, and that’s according to people who feel that ditching the old naturally aspirated V8 of the 458 Italia wasn’t in the best interest of purists.

On the flip side, the 488 is capable of things that the 458 couldn’t do in terms of acceleration and torque. Of course, being turbocharged, the power unit of the 488 doesn’t scream as loud as the 458 did, and that’s where an aftermarket exhaust system comes in.

Now, the car in this video does seem to be the very first 488 GTB fitted with an Akrapovic exhaust (at least caught on film) and as far as we can tell, it sounds somewhat similar to a 458 with the same exhaust tune, but doesn’t have the same bangs and crackles during downshifts.

This may have been why some of the video’s comments were slightly negative, in the sense that people genuinely seem to gravitate towards the older 458 when it comes to noise.

Let us know if you feel the same, or if you love the way it sounds either way.
