Feast your eyes on one of the rarest GT-R’s of all time, the Nismo 400R.

Nissan’s Nismo division has frequently brought its Motorsport heritage and expertise on the public streets with the help of various homologation-special or track-inspired models, such as the R35 GT-R Nismo, R34 Z-Tune, R33 LM Limited and, of course, the 400R.

Inspired by the potent GT-R LM race car that competed twice in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Nismo unveiled the 400R in 1997. Its 2.8-litre bored and stroked RB26DETT engine, the RBX-GT2, was engineered and produced by Nissan Kohki’s Motor Sports Division (called REINIK), and it developed 395hp and 347 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque – hence the R400 name, as the “R” stands for “Racing”.

Thanks to the potent powerplant, the car develops 120hp and 83 lb-ft (112 Nm) of torque more than the standard variant’s (official) output. Enough to get it from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.0 seconds and to a top speed of over 186 mph (300 km/h).

Nismo originally planned to produce 100 units of the 400R, but only 44 were made before the R33 generation retired in 1998.
