- Toyota and Nissan have rolled out new ad campaigns for football season.
- Toyota’s clip stars Brock Purdy, Eli Manning, and several different vehicles.
- Nissan will use former Heisman winners to promote 2027 Rogue Hybrid.
It’s September, and that means football season is officially upon us. This will once again bring perpetual disappointment in the Detroit Lions as well as plenty of automotive advertising.
The NFL season kicks off on September 9, and Toyota is preparing an advertising blitz. One of the first ads out of the gate is called “The Game Won’t Stop.” It stars 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy as well as Eli Manning, who needs no introduction.

In the clip, kids are playing NFL Flag football, and Manning attempts to throw a pass to Purdy. It’s intercepted by a girl, who passes it to a woman, who gets into a Sienna minivan. Her son then grabs the ball and goes running, while Manning and others follow in an assortment of vehicles, including a Camry and Grand Highlander.
They eventually arrive at a football field, where they turn on the lights and start playing. The clip ends by noting Toyota is the official automotive partner of NFL Flag football.
The ad was shot in Los Angeles and comes from Saatchi & Saatchi. Interestingly, the firm said the campaign “brought Manning behind the camera, with his Ten Till Productions serving as a production partner.”
The ad will air during NBC’s NFL Kickoff on September 9 as part of a larger Toyota activation that includes cultural initiatives as well as fan experiences. A key component of the latter is gameday giveaways with a new vehicle and a trip to Super Bowl LXI among the prizes.
Nissan Taps Heisman Winners To Promote New Rogue
In other football-related advertising news, Nissan has rebooted their long-running Heisman House campaign. It gives way to a new “Tell Them a Heisman Sent You” blitz, which is billed as an “episodic series” that shows “Heisman legends competing to be Nissan’s top spokesperson.”
As part of the effort, there will be 30-second spots shown during college football games as well as longer clips hosted on YouTube. The campaign will highlight a number of models including the 2027 Rogue Hybrid.
The series kicks off on September 4 and stars a number of athletes, including Barry Sanders, Derrick Henry, Eddie George, Fernando Mendoza, Jim Plunkett, Tim Tebow, and Travis Hunter.
