As important as cornering speed can be on a perfectly dry track, in the wet it can be crucial since it’s harder to regain control of the car once you’ve lost it.

From what we can see, this Audi S4 Avant B5 entered this right-hand turn carrying too much speed, which eventually led to the car understeering onto the gravel and into the barrier.

Even though there’s not a lot of (apparent) damage, the impact with the barrier looked rather severe, which is then punctuated by the driver grabbing his face with his palms as soon as he managed to bring the car to a halt.

Another questionable decision was stopping the car in the gravel trap, especially since it looked like the Audi had enough momentum to get back onto the track, from where the driver could have found a better and most important, a safer place to pull over.

No one was hurt and damage to the car could have been much worse. So, it was a light accident – especially compared to other, similar ones that have occurred on the Ring.
