The Chevrolet Corvette C7.R recently cemented its position as one of the best racing cars in the ongoing WeatherTech championship in the United States with a stunning victory.

At the weekend’s recent race at Road America, Tommy Milner was sitting in fifth position in the GTLM championship with just five minutes of racing left yet somehow, managed to sprint through to secure the top step on the podium in a display of sheer driving magnificence.

As shown in the following video, Milner was behind a BMW M6 GT3, Porsche 911 GT3, Ferrari 488 GT3 and the brand new Ford GT racer at a safety car restart in the race’s closing stages.

On the restart, the Ford GT is thought to have lost a turbocharger and was soon swamped by the Ferrari right on its tail. After a tough battle between the pair, they made contact, allowing a 911 GT3 to momentarily make its way through and shoot up to first position in the class, only to be hit by the Ford GT after it was nudged by the Ferrari.

At this stage, Milner’s Corvette was sitting in 4th and was soon able to overtake the M6 GT3 ahead of him. As if fate was doing its thing for Milner, the 2nd place 488 GT3 was hit by a prototype and sent spinning off the track, bumping Milner up to second.

In the final lap, the Corvette was able to close the gap to the ailing GT to take a truly last minute victory.
