Facelifted BMW 4-Series Convertible Bringing Subtle Tweaks To The Table

Alongside the 4-Series Coupe and the almighty M4 Coupe, BMW is preparing a minor facelift for the 4-Series Convertible set to launch late this year or in early 2017.

As is typically the case with facelifted BMW models, the new 4-Series Convertible will only be distinguishable from the outgoing car by the most discerned buyers and enthusiasts, even though it will adopt many changes across the exterior and in all probability, elements of the cabin.

As with the revitalized 3-Series, the drop-top 4-Series pictured has been adorned with a newly-designed bumper and a set of different headlights. Compared to the lights of the current model, these new ones appear slightly taller and will incorporate new inner graphics. Complementing the lights will be new fog lights, modified air intake surrounds and for some models, a lower lip chin spoiler.

The changes will continue at the rear with a custom set of taillights identical to those of the facelifted4-Series Coupe. While we’ve yet to see pictures of these new lights without camouflage, the same basic shape as the current model can be expected but with some changes to the inners and the layout.

Just like the refreshed 3-Series, customers will be able to opt between a host of different powertrains depending on the market. In the U.S. for example, buyers are tipped to be offered a 2.0-liter turbo four with 246 hp as well as a turbo’d 3.0-liter straight six delivering 322 hp. European customers meanwhile will also receive a 181 hp 2.0-liter turbo and up to five different diesel drivetrains.
