Pininfarina’s wild H2 Speed Concept from March’s Geneva Motor Show is set to reach the production line in extremely limited numbers.

While speaking with Autonews at the 2016 Concours d’Elegance, company chief executive Silvio Pietro revealed that 10 units will be produced, priced at around $2.5 million each and remaining almost identical to the concept car.

The production-spec H2 Speed will use the same hydrogen fuel cell technology as the concept, including its pair of electric motors sending over 500 hp to the rear wheels. Despite emitting nothing but water vapor, the revolutionary hydrogen supercar will accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.4 seconds and top out at a 186 mph (300 km/h) top speed.

Underpinning the H2 Speed will be the racing chassis from an LMP2 car and despite the cost of developing the car’s powertrain, Pininfarina insists that it will turn a profit on each car it sells.

Production of the completed cars will commence in early 2018 but unfortunately, all will be limited to track use only.
