A 43-year-old man from Ohio has been killed while allegedly trying to steal a wheel from a GMC Yukon at a dealership lot.

Employees at Ron Marhofer Buick GMC discovered Richard E. Ritch’s body on Saturday morning after the Yukon fell off its scissor jack and crushed the man’s skull.

Rather worringly, it took until noon for a sales associate to notice Ritch’s body, hours after the dealership opened.

Police were then called to the scene to investigate with the dealer staying open throughout the ordeal.

The service department checked over the Yukon for damages shortly after before getting back to business.

The motivation behind the theft isn’t known but stealing wheels from car dealerships late at night is far from a new phenomena. While this was a one-man act, some local dealers have been targeted by groups of criminals stealing wheels in bulk.
