The father of retiring F1 driver Felipe Massa says the Brazilian may switch to another category for the 2017 season.

At last week’s Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Massa said that he will retire from Formula 1 at the end of the 2016 season but according to his dad, Luis Antonio, a switch to the World Endurance Championship, DTM or Formula E could be on the cards, reports Autoweek.

While speaking to Brazilian media outlet Sportv, Antonio said “He could race somewhere because that’s what he loves to do. In a top category, no doubt, with a chance to be champion. There are some options. WEC, DTM, Formula E. No choices are made, but it will not be other than those three categories.”

If Massa were to move to either over those three categories, he certainly wouldn’t be the first to do so. Paul di Resta for example raced in DTM after he failed to secure a long-term contract in Formula One. Mark Webber moved to WEC and has already scored a championship after his retirement from F1.

Formula E meanwhile is littered with ex-F1 drivers like Jaime Alguersuari, Sebastien Buemi, Karun Chandok and Lucas di Grassi.
