Ferrari, McLaren And Tesla Models Embroiled In Takata Recalls

A number of McLaren, Ferrari and Tesla models have been embroiled in the ongoing Takata airbag inflator recalls.

Details have only been released about U.S.-spec models and for McLaren, they consist of all P1s delivered, 2012-2014 MP4-12C models, the 2015-2016 650S, 2016-2017 570 and the limited edition 2016 675LT (Coupe and Spider).

There are also over 2,820 Ferrari vehicles affected with faulty airbags including its entire 2016-2017 lineup, including the latest F12 Berlinettas, California Ts, F12tdfs and LaFerrari. Additionally, 2009-2014 California, 2010-2015 458 Italia, 2012-2016 FF, 2012-2015 458 Spider, 2014-2014 458 Speciale and 2015 458 Speciale Aperta models are all affected.

As for Tesla, its 2012-2016 Model S vehicles will have to be repaired, Car and Driver notes.

The Takata airbag recall, the largest in automotive history, affects over 40 million vehicles in the United States alone and revolves around faulty airbag inflators which can spew metal shards throughout the passenger cabin during a crash.
