New BMW 530e iPerformance Electrifies The UK Market From £43,985

Featuring technology derived from the ‘i’ brand and building upon the latest generation 5-Series, the new BMW 530e iPerformance is getting ready to hit the UK market.

Available for order from mid-January with prices kicking off at £43,985 ($54,412), the electrified sedan uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder combustion engine that generates 184 PS (181 HP) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque, and an electric motor, with an output of 95 PS (94 HP) and maximum torque of 250 Nm (184 lb-ft).

These round up to a combined 252 PS (248 HP) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.2 seconds, and up to a top speed of 146 mph (235 km/h), while returning 141.2 mpg UK (117.6 mpg US / 2 l/100 km) and emitting just 46 g/km of CO2. Power is channeled to the rear wheels through a standard 8-speed automatic transmission, and feeding the electric motor is a lithium-ion battery pack, with a total capacity of 9.2 kWh.

Sitting underneath the rear seat for optimum space-saving, the battery can be fully charged in less than 5 hours from a standard domestic power socket, and in less than 3 hours, with the BMW i Wallbox, and provides a zero-emission driving range of up to 29 miles (47 km), at a maximum speed of 87 mph (140 km/h).

Just like the regular versions of the new BMW 5-Series, the 530e iPerformance features a standard high-res 10.25-inch display, navigation, Bluetooth, voice assistant, gesture control, and a wide range of driver assist technology, including Lane Change Assistant, Lane Keeping Assistant, and optional Active Cruise Control. The equipment list also includes the BMW Connected Onboard, 360-degree cameras, Microsoft Office 365, weather updates, and others.

On the outside, the electrified 5-Series features blue kidney grille slats, blue wheel hub covers, eDrive emblems on the C-pillars, 530e badge on the boot lid, and a charging socket, located between the A-pillar and front wheel arch, on the driver’s side.

Last, but definitely not least, besides the Driving Experience Control switch, which allows driver to select between Sport, Comfort and Eco Pro settings, there’s also an eDrive button at their disposal that lets them tailor the system through Auto eDrive, Max eDrive and Battery Control.
