In case anybody’s unfamiliar with the upcoming BMW X2 crossover, it will help to think of it as a sportier X1, and a younger brother to the X4 and X6 Sports Activity Coupes (SAC), though not quite as Coupe-like.

These images were taken by our spy photographers in Sweden where BMW was busy testing this camouflaged X2, a car wearing pretty much the same vinyl coat as the one spotted in Munich last month.

What this means is that we still get to see a little bit more of it, compared to those first spy images we shared with you where the rear and the front were completely covered up.

Now, the upper bumper-mounted fog lamps, headlights and taillights are again visible, as is the large kidney grille. As for the interior, we still don’t have any images to show you, though expect a multi-layered dashboard design (probably, exactly) like on the X1, with features such as BMW’s ConnectedDrive system, apps & services also available.

While we still can’t rule out a possible X2 M or a plug-in hybrid, initially the X2 will mirror its X1 sibling in terms of diesel and petrol powertrains, with available front wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.

As for the visuals, let’s hope that next time around, BMW will be kind enough to let the X2 show us even more skin while out testing.
