Mercedes has made it clear that the GT is no SLS replacement, as it belongs to a lower segment, so the now discontinued supercar has been left without a successor.

Still, there are quite a few fine examples out there in the used car market, and they don’t come much better than this 2014 Black Series, which is said to be the last that was ever built.

The Black Series dropped almost 70 kg (154 lbs) from its weight and added approximately 60 horsepower, covering the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in just 3.6 seconds before topping out at 315 km/h (196 mph). The additional muscle came from fitting modified camshafts, a titanium exhaust system, and revising the cam geometry, among others.

Besides the extra oomph, the SLS AMG Black Series also benefits from a diet, which includes a number of carbon fiber parts and doing away with some amenities like the navigation and infotainment systems.

Set to hit the RMSothebys auction in Paris, France, on February 8, during the Retromobile Week, this Solar Beam Yellow-finished vehicle has just one owner and its odo shows 9,350 km (5,810 miles). The auction house does not disclose an estimated price, but they usually go for $500,000+, or almost double their initial $275,000 window sticker.
