2019 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Gets Panamericana Grille And Up To 603HP

As mid-size premium SUVs keep getting quicker, Mercedes-AMG have begun testing their new-generation high performance GLE 63 model.

This is also not the first time we’ve seen the new-generation GLE in the wild. However, this latest batch of spy images does give us our best look yet at the model’s Panamericana grille and headlight graphics.

The AMG version of the GLE is clearly beefier from a visual standpoint than the regular car. It’s also wearing larger wheels and brakes compared to other prototypes spotted recently, and has a wider and more aggressive front spoiler.

Inside, it will feature the same dual-screen setup, console handles and quad-vent design as the regular GLE, which already showed off its partially-covered interior a few months back. Of course, expect Mercedes-AMG to add their own touches, such as a sportier steering wheel plus all the AMG-specific trims.

Power will be available in two separate output stages, specifically 571 PS (563 HP) for the GLE 63 and 612 PS (603 HP) for the flagship GLE 63 S version. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine should remain unchanged from the one that powers the latest E63 and E63 S models.

The Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 will arrive at a later date than the 2019 GLE, which won’t be revealed until sometime next year. Stuttgart will aim the GLE 63 at BMW‘s all-new 2019 X5 M, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, plus the rest of the mid-size fast SUV gang.
