Ruby Black Metallic BMW 730Li Is Downsizing At Its Finest

In 730i spec, the BMW 7-Series boasts its first ever 2-liter four-cylinder power unit. On top of that, this is a long-wheelbase version, so there’s even more weight to carry for this engine.

The car resides with BMW Abu Dhabi Motors and it’s wearing a Ruby Black Metallic finish, a 3D Design front spoiler, an M Performance trunk lid spoiler and an M Performance kidney grille. As you have surely noticed, the Orbit Grey wheels are massive, measuring 21 inches!

Inside, it’s BMW Individual at their finest, with red leather covering the seats, door panels, most of the center console and the bottom half of the dashboard. This is without a doubt one of the most luxurious 7-Series models we’ve seen lately, and trust us, there have been many: Avus Blue 750Li, Atlantis Blue 750Li, Imola Red M760Li, Austin Yellow M760Li, White 740Le, Rallye Green M760Li, San Marino Blue M760Li… You get the picture.

Of course, what makes the 730Li stand out from the crowd is the 2.0-liter turbocharged four banger found underneath the hood. It produces 258 PS (255 HP) between 5,000 and 6,500 rpm and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque between 1,550 to 4,400 rpm.

In a straight line, the 730Li will hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.3 seconds, which is actually less impressive than its average fuel economy of just 6.2 liters/100 km (37.9 mpg US).

That’s a whole lot of metal & leather for that little engine to be hauling around. Imagine it loaded with people and their luggage.

    • Andrewthecarguy

Yeah this is terrible. Not sure why BMW even offers that size engine in the 7. Bad move.

  • europeon

Here we go again… can you please fire this guy already?

In the past year you had 78 articles about 7-Series BMWs, from which 21 were advertorials taken straight from BMW Abu Dhabi’s Facebook page. And that’s only counting the 7-Series.

    Don’t you think that’s enough?

    • TheBelltower

      Thank you!

    • nastinupe

I actually enjoying seeing the color combo’s. I mean, if you hate it that much don’t click on the article. Do you read everything in the newspaper?

      • europeon

Wasn’t the “article” about the group photo with all the 7-Series individual colors lined up in front of the Abu Dhabi dealership enough? Or all the other “articles” with dark colored BMWs with red interiors? Or all the other 734589347589347 articles about BMWs and Abu Dhabi’s inventory?

The problem is that only BMWs are presented here, and this guy is the ultimate BMW exhaust sucking fanboy. I would like to see Mercs, or Audis, or Jaguars, or any other brand in various colors from dealerships around the world, but instead it’s a BMW article every other day.

      • jsz00

If I enjoy seeing color combos, I would just go to Abu Dhabi Motors website. Not here.

    • LWOAP

Oh, come on, we all knew this was going to happen. I do agree, though, it is tiresome which is why I’ve resorted to copy and pasting the same comment.

  • WHY?

  • Evo45

If this is “downsizing at it’s finest” then check this (Don’t mind the language):

You wouldn’t see this in other countries (There wasn’t a price tag though, I don’t know why.).

Nothing new, there are all sort of flagship cars with insanely small engines made exclusively for developing markets. Mercedes had an S250CDI with an 2.1l inline 4 diesel engine, Jaguar has an XJ-L with a 2l petrol, and so on.

      • Evo45

S250CDI sounds interesting actually, I wonder how did it performed.

        • europeon

Bad. They discontinued it after two years.

I dont think this mpg (37mpg/6.2 liters) could be real even on driving only higway trips.

  • Bash

Based on what i see on this site, i don’t think people of Abu Dhabi are into small engines, this should be at least the a 745, preferably the 750, while I’m sure the 760 will make a lot of ppl drool about it out there.

  • Six Thousand Times

    It’s pretty.

For people who want a 7 series but can’t afford a 7 series. Just buy a damn 5 series already.

We all now know the Germans deploy cheat devices and their cars pollute far worse than advertised. They’ve admitted as much. How can we now trust claims like these? The in-car computers could literally show you any arbitrary mpg number and you’d be none the wiser. Im shocked the US and European governments didn’t go after them much harder.
