2018 Dodge Challenger Gets Retro Colors And A New Shakedown Package

The Dodge Challenger has seen in an uptick in sales and the company is hoping to keep that momentum going by announcing a handful of new options for the aging muscle car.

First and foremost, the company will offer a new Shakedown Package on the Challenger R/T Shaker, R/T Plus Shaker and 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker.

The package draws inspiration from the 1971 Dodge Shakedown Challenger that was shown at SEMA in 2016 and it features asymmetrical racing stripes that spawn the entire length of the car. The $995 package also includes white-faced gauges and an Alpine audio system with up to nine speakers.

Besides the Shakedown package, Dodge is bringing back two retro colors: B5 Blue and Plum Crazy. Originally introduced in 1969 and 1970, the retro colors will be available on Charger and Challenger T/A, T/A Plus and T/A 392 models.

In a statement, FCA North America Head of Passenger Car Brands Steve Beahm said “Dodge//SRT has a rich history of using iconic heritage and high-impact colors and unique graphics to make our vehicles look custom, straight from the factory.”

He went on to say “Whether a customer remembers B5 and Plum Crazy from when they were new in the ‘60s and ‘70s or they’re a new customer today, these paint colors and unique Shaker stripes stand out in the crowd and speak to our customers’ passion for their cars and their love of the Dodge and SRT brands.”

This car has aged really well, unlike the previous mustang and Camaro

2013-2014 Mustangs still look good to me. The 2010-2012 not so much anymore. The previous Camaro was just horrible inside and out.

        Exactly.

    Typical Dodge.

I always love and welcome PlumCrazy. B5 Blue doesn’t feel as special though. Didn’t they launch this generation of Charger/Challenger with B5 Blue three years ago? Yes they did so it hasn’t been gone long enough to miss. Honestly, I’ve been waiting for Blue Streak Pearl to make a return to the Charger. It’s one of the most beautiful blues they’ve ever had and although others have come close, nothing has beaten Blue Streak Pearl so far, IMO.

  • Didn’d they do this every year? new special edition colours and livery inspired by the glory Mopar days. It won’t extend the car life that much though.

    • LWOAP

No it won’t and it’s not like they can just replace them either. Dodge is kind of in a bind here.

      • What happened with Barracuda? I’ve heard that since like 5 years ago with no clear sign if the car is close to production or not.

        • LWOAP

          It most got scrapped.

          • What a shame… I was expecting that and back in early 2010 I remember the idea to apply Hellcat style supercharger to Viper V10.. gosh so many miss opportunities! What is this? British Leyland?

Will we EVER see an all-new 300C, Challenger, Magnum, and Charger or will we still only be getting new colors and decals even as we go into the 2020’s?
