2019 Kia Stinger ‘Atlantica’ Limited Edition Brings Euro Features To U.S.

Kia’s Stinger GT is gearing up for a 500-unit production run under the ‘Atlantica’ moniker, as U.S. buyers will now benefit from a bunch of EU-inspired mods.

The limited edition Stinger comes with a unique paint, new wheels and a Nappa leather interior. Furthermore, there is exclusive numbered badging as well as new equipment features.

“We recognize Stinger is something special and wanted to commemorate the 2019 model year with a stand-out variant,” stated Kia’s VP of product planning, Orth Hedrick. “Out of the box, the Stinger is a tried-and-true sport sedan with much of its development taking place on Germany’s grueling Nürburgring race circuit.”

“The Atlantica edition introduces more European flare while distinguishing itself with exclusive badging and features not previously offered by Kia in the U.S. market.”

Based on the Stinger GT2 AWD, this new edition stands out thanks to its Deep Chroma Blue metallic paint, new 19-inch alloys that come straight from the European Stinger, and a large font for the Stinger badge across the rear deck lid – in fact, there’s no Kia badge on the rear.

Inside, Espresso Brown Nappa leather joins the black suede-type headliner to offer a premium touch, while the Surround View Monitor, wireless phone charger and heated rear outboard seats play their part in making the cabin stand out compared to that of the regular U.S. version.

Kia has yet to decide how much it will charge for the Stinger GT Atlantica, so we’ll have to wait until we get closer to its summer on-sale date to find out.

More “European flare”? Maybe they need a lens hood.

      LOL!

Great color. I think I prefer the standard US market wheels though. If the Sunset Yellow limited edition model is any indication, dealers will be slapping big time markups on them. I’ll be happy if they just give us the 360-degree camera.

There’s actually a Sunset Yellow Stinger at my local dealer that doesn’t have any markups on it, they’re selling it for 41,000 USD.

    Exactly!

Especially the brown nappa leather option that not shown in the pics above be.

Kia is throwing a bone to the Kia dealerships to do a MAP on the GT2 of possibly $20-30K over MSRP!

kia needs a new badge/logo for all their cars, it seems cheap looking, not sure what would look cool but I think the words kia on the badge logo just dont do justice to the badge logo for the cars kia now puts out that are really all great machines

  • Craig

    A great looking car!

  • Rocket

Especially since ghey’re already optional in some markets.

  • Infinite1

Yet another reason for dealerships to mark up prices on.

  • Honda NSX-R

I love it, but I wish I could just opt the features on this car without having to get the GT2 AWD and pay extra on it. It’s funny how we get Stingers in yellow, but not in this color

They should have boutique marketed this like Tesla did in upscale shopping districts with its own branded store. Not just in the middle of a mall like some cheesy Soul. Right now, sitting along the highway in front of their dealers, they look like every other average KIA sedan. People don’t know what this car is about at all.

  • To give it a European flare… manage to avoir stupid side markers. They do nothing for safety on modern cars with lights always on. They just are ugly.

  • Honda NSX-R

Strange…most of the Stingers in my area are priced at MSRP

The 360cam, wireless charging and rear-heated seats should have originally been part of the GT2 package (as it is in the top trim in most other markets) – especially for what they are charging for the top-spec in the US.

And the larger, centered scripted “Stinger” lettering also should have been the default (as it is in most other markets).

Beautiful color, but not a real special edition by any means. Lets see them eck out some more performance from this car and then call it a “special edition”!

This edition has been officially cancelled according to KIA Corporate with whom I spoke on June 14, 2018. They claim that it was the decision of their marketing department. They would give me no confirmation as to whether the included features or color of this edition would be made into a new or different edition, or would be part of the lineup on 2019 models. Such a letdown…I was attempting to order one when several dealers said they had no credible information on the availability of the Atlantica edition. I really want the Surround Cameras, Wireless Charging Pad and Heated Rear Seats that this edition promised, yet KIA wouldn’t say if these features will “make it at all” to the US market. Why does Europe and Canada get them, but the US does not? Stupid. Doesn’t KIA want my money?
