If you want to get behind the wheel of a Tesla convertible, your options are pretty limited as they involve purchasing a used Tesla Roadster – which goes for around $50,000 to $80,000 on eBay – or waiting for the all-new model which is slated to arrive in 2020.

If you’re willing to settle something a little different, there are a handful of firms which can turn the Tesla Model S into a convertible. One of them is Newport Convertible Engineering which also offers drop top versions of everything from the Cadillac Escalade to the Nissan GT-R.

While it’s unclear if this particular model was made by the firm, the convertible was spotted by a friend of Carscoops reader Shawn. It was snapped in a parking garage in Boston and likely has the honor of being the only Tesla Model S Convertible in the city.

Little is known about this particular car, but its roof has been completely removed and the B-pillar has been transformed into a roll bar. The Model S has also been outfitted with a unique rear end that features a custom trunk and a retractable soft top.

While it’s certainly not the most glamorous looking convertible on the market, the only other four-seat electric convertible that springs to mind is the Citroen E-Mehari which is also pretty quirky. Of course, the Model S is a bit more luxurious than the E-Mehari and it can easily beat the E-Mehari’s top speed of 68 mph (110 km/h).
