2020 Kia Telluride Shows Its Production Styling In New Teaser Video

Kia is gearing up to introduce the 2020 Telluride at the North American International Auto Show and the company is giving us a closer look at its range-topping crossover thanks to a new teaser video.

Previewed by a handful of near-production concepts at SEMA and New York Fashion Week, the 2020 Telluride will be launched next spring and offer seating for up to eight people. The crossover will be built and Georgia and compete with other models such as the Chevrolet Traverse and Subaru Ascent.

While that much we already knew, the teaser video describes the Telluride as large, premium crossover that embraces the idea of “big, bold and boxy.” Unfortunately, the clip doesn’t show much of the exterior as it only gives a peek at the crossover’s prominent grille, LED-framed headlights and L-shaped taillights.

The brief glimpse of the interior reveals the model will have a leather-wrapped steering wheel with gloss black accents, metallic flourishes and high-quality switchgear. It also shows perforated black leather seats with contrast stitching integrated into the backrest. We can also see the Telluride center’s stack will have a wide central air vent that resides above two rows of switches.

While Kia hasn’t mentioned performance specifications, the 2020 Hyundai Palisade gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect. It rides on an all-new platform and features a 3.8-liter V6 engine that produces an estimated 291 hp (217 kW / 295 PS) and 262 lb-ft (354 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system.

The Palisade is also pretty luxurious as the model offers quilted Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated second-row captain’s chairs. Other highlights include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a power-folding third row.

    Badass!

Can’t wait to know more about the new Telluride ahead of its NAIAS debut.

Concept’s headlamps and grille are better.

    • Craig

A LOT better. Very disappointing to see the change KIA made. It went from cool to seriously ugly.

  • Jawohl

Lexus models used to be th3 ugliest but this takes it to a whole new level.🤮

This is nothing like Lexus fugly – esp. the RX.

      • Jawohl

        It’s Gangnam style ugly

Expect the unexpected. I find this BS. Can’t they even open their eyes and see that they ruined it with those headlights and rear lights. Those were one of the main and key design elements that I – and few hundred thousands car fans around the world- to love it.

While I’m not at all encouraged, this had better be a LOT better-looking than the butt-ugly Palisade. If not, unless all CUV-starved Americans have blinders on (many do), Hyundai/Kia are in for a rough ride. It’s not at all peachy-keen with H-K these days (self-inflicted troubles by aiming too high), so this COULD be a top story of 2019…

I sat in the Palisade at the LA Auto Show and was very impressed. The interior design and quality of the materials is Mercedes-like. The exterior styling is quirky, but distinctive. It stands out without being gimmicky. I like it.

Unfortunately, the changes to the front end (from the concept) have made this look like “anony-SUV”, very generic. Not sure who these designers are in these videos but they need to get a grip or peer outside their little windows to see what else is going on in the world. Yes, the Stinger is terrific, but this SUV is decidedly not an “amazing” design. Its derivative and boring.
