Driver Tries An Illegal U-Turn Right In Front Of A Cop – And Gets Away With It!

Stupidity and weird incidents have a tendency to go together, and that’s certainly the case in this dashcam video.

Taken in New York, the short clip shows a Chevrolet Suburban pull over to the side of the road and then attempt to make an illegal U-turn.

The driver appears to be oblivious to the oncoming traffic as they make the turn as two vehicles are approaching from the other direction. As luck would have it, one of those vehicles was a police officer in a Chevrolet Tahoe.

This make for a bit of an awkward situation, as the Suburban driver stops in the middle of the road and blocks both lanes of traffic. The officer isn’t having any of this and he points his hand out the window to tell the driver to get back into their lane. He then sits there for a few seconds until the Suburban slowly takes off.

The video ends shortly thereafter, but it appears the Suburban driver got lucky and managed to avoid getting ticketed for impeding traffic or attempting that illegal U-turn. The driver should be thankful for this as state’s department of motor vehicles notes moving violations add a minimum of two points to a driver’s record. If drivers rake up 11 points in an 18-month period, their license may be suspended.

Maybe he miss thought him is an FBI agent.

Then the policeman would probably not interfere at all.

    Sensible approach.
Probably on his way to an important call.

That cop did the Suburban drive a big break by pointing the driver to the correct way a lot of cops would have whipped out the ticket book

The police unfortunately don’t want to pull over offenders for fear of being ambushed.
    Guess I can’t blame them.

    • ace_9

So the police in US is afraid of stopping everyone, because someone might ambush them? And then what? Is it common in US to ambush the police cars by waiting for them and trying to do some illegal maneuver and hoping that the police would stop them???

      • Dennis James

Well…since everybody has guns, it’s Wild Wild West out there.

        • ace_9

Sure, but I guess, the police is counting with that and they still stop traffic violators. It just does not seem very probable to me, that the policeman in the video was afraid of being ambushed… The guns are of course another issue and it seems strange that many people there feel safer just because everyone can own a gun. So much guns and so few restrictions only cause more problems than solutions.

Best way to go about it would for more people to have guns. That’d eventually work itself out. If you take guns away, only law abiding people will listen. Criminals won’t, which means only criminals and government will have guns. If there was a shooter in the store while I was in there and I was armed, I could stop him much faster than a cop could get there, and would save more people.
