With Christmas merely two weeks away, holiday-themed commercials are bound to increase in frequency, as carmakers such as Audi look to put people in a festive mood by associating their products with Santa Claus himself.
This nearly 4-minute long video from Audi offers a fresh take on Santa’s image, by having him debut a brand new look that can only be described as more modern. The German automaker had him not only cut his beard, but also lose weight.
The only thing missing was hearing the Rocky theme during the training montage part, which included a lot of cardio and even a little boxing – which could come in handy in case he runs into mean children who don’t like their gifts.
So what made Santa want to better himself? Apparently it was seeing a couple arrive home in a red 2019 Audi RS5 Sportback while he was delivering presents. Of course, why seeing a nice car would make you want to better yourself is a bit hard to understand. Perhaps the idea was for Santa to realize that his style was a little too outdated.
After he got himself into shape, Santa received an RS5 Sportback of his own, although we can’t imagine how the car’s 450 PS (444 HP) engine could do as good a job as a magical sleigh, seen as how it needs to travel all over the world in a single day. Then again, if any kids are reading this, we could argue that maybe it’s Santa who distributes said magic over whichever object he uses to get around in. There. Problem solved.
